Role Description
CNC Lathe Operator, as a few core responsiblities such as
Set-up and operation of Vertical Turning Centers (lathes)
Production of various products and machined components ranging from a few inches up to circa 6 feet
Additional Responsiblities would included
Ensure all quality and safety standards;
Maintaining equipment and supplies with this CNC department that is crucial in helping ATI meet production goals and objectives.
A successful CNC Operator uses their interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, understands machining principles, is a strong troubleshooter, and is able to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or Equivalent Experience
4+ years of experience within manufacturing environments/facilities
Strong understanding how manufacturing and processing equipment works; the breakdown of the equipment and its mechanics to troubleshoot technical issues and perform preventive maintenance.
Must have experience and technical capability around industrial machinery such as seals, piping, pumps, fans, blowers and material handling equipment
Experience in any of the following industries: food manufacturing, oil, gas, mining, chemical manufacturing, medical, automotive, aerospace and military background
SAP experience
PREFERRED:
Knowledge and Experience with : Reliability tools, maintenance process management, predictive maintenance technologies, proactive maintenance model, or related preferred.
Experience in LEAN SIX SIGMA, 5S, or related is preferred
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), or Reliability Practitioner

We are currently Hiring for CNC Machinist at our Cudahy, Wisconsin (suburb of Milwaukee, WI) facility. As a CNC Lathe Operator, you will set-up and operate Vertical Turning Centers (lathes) and will be an integral part of a successful team that is responsible for producing products and machined components in military, aerospace, oil/gas and other applications.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating CNC Lathes to product products / components that range in size from 4 inches in diameter/short length to 65 inch diameter/long length. As a CNC Machinist you are also responsible for ensuring all quality and safety standards; and maintaining equipment and supplies with this CNC department that is crucial in helping ATI meet production goals and objectives.

This is a weekend shift position with the option of working weekend days 6:00am-6:00pm or weekend nights 6:00pm-6:00am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Scheduled for 36 hours, get paid for 40.
Responsibilities:
Follows engineering setup charts to perform initial assembly of tools
Interprets program to install all tools in the machine and establish offsets and adjust machine offsets to ensure part conformance
Performs complete machining of first piece and verifies all dimensions on machines to corresponds with drawing
Use instrumentation and gauges, along with shop tools to verity operational drawing requirements and part conformance
Read and understand basic technical drawings / blueprints to produce parts that meet specifications
Measure and document dimensions during operations and maintain appropriate machining and operations records
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
At least 5 years of previous CNC operation experience
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Basic Qualifications)
Experience as a CNC Vertical Turning Center Operator / Machinist
Experience with metal forgings
Machining Certification
Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently to achieve goals and objectives.
Strong knowledge of basic machining principles, GD&T, and ability to read blueprints
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use hand tools, measuring instruments, and gauges to ensure proper setups and machining operations
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

must have a minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience. Knowledge of set-up and programing machines. Those with experience machining large parts and working with different types of metals will be most successful. Experience in aerospace manufacturing is a big plus.
